“spotlight the top artists of the time and act as a driving force in supporting the role galleries play in nurturing artists’ careers”, the annual event attracts art perusers and professionals alike. ‘People are thirsty and eager to experience art physically,’
– Giovanni Carmine.
The gallery spaces are white cubes forming a family of exhibition spaces spanning interconnected open areas. The unlimited white-walled booths are the place where great works come to thrive.
At the foundation of Beyeler, the most visited art museum in Switzerland, exhibitions are spread inside and outside in the gardens. They have close-up displays where each one is dedicated to a female artist from the 1870s until the present day.
“Art Basel is an essential part of our art-world ecosystem, and I believe it is important to support it in such an unusual, difficult year,”
says collector Catherine Petitgas.
In addition to the main event, Art-Net “expects excitement out of the Unlimited section, where large-scale installations and standalone works that literally cannot fit into a regular booth are on display”.
The art fair has also introduced Unlimited Night this year when the fair stays open late. On June 16, 2022, the event closes at 10 pm.
