So, mark your calendars. Here’s DDW’s rundown of some unmissable upcoming sneaker drops coming before the summer!
Nike Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’
Released 26th March Details →
Fresh from the Nike workshop, this highly-anticipated comeback dropped today to kick off Nike Air Max Weekend!
If you like the look of the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’ sneakers, you’ll have to cop some pretty quick. This sneaker is a long-time favourite from Nike’s iconic 2004 collaboration with New York clothing boutique Dave’s Quality Meat, which was styled wall-to-wall to resemble an old-school butcher’s shop. This sneaker is one of the few Nike collaborations that has never faded in its popularity, with every re-release sparking no shortage of hype amongst fans.
Every seasoned sneaker fan will agree that this is a must-have in any decent collection. Get ‘em while they’re hot – they won’t be around for long!
Nike Air Max 97 ‘City Special’ Collection
- Released 27th March Details →
It’s a big weekend for Nike.
Following the re-release of the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’ sneaker, the brand is also ready to drop a brand new collection, with every shoe in the line paying tribute to one of America’s biggest cities.
The vibrant ‘City Special’ line features shoes for both men and women, with sneakers inspired by Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York, among others. Featuring corduroy, canvas and synthetic leather panelling throughout, along with detailing and design that captures the spirit of each city perfectly. The collection is characteristically bright, too, with sneakers available in eye-catching yellows, oranges, pinks and aquamarine shades.
This is one drop that makes a statement, bold in every sense.
Jordan 3 Midnight Navy
- Released March 27th Details →
Rounding off Nike’s releases for Air Max Weekend nicely is this new addition to the much-loved Jordan’s range.
This is the latest design in the range, which has been a fan-favourite since the model was first designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1988. Premium tumbled leather, mesh overlays and the signature Nike elephant print come together perfectly with this new navy blue colour scheme to create a sneaker that looks just as fresh as it does classic.
Of course, a Jordan sneaker wouldn’t be complete without the trademark Jumpman logo, which takes pride of place on the tongue and heels. Designed – in line with the rest of their Jordans range – with high-energy basketball play in mind, these are the perfect addition to your wardrobe, whether you’re looking to elevate your game or simply want a fresh pair of sneakers to level-up any look.
Off-White x Converse Chuck 70
- Released March 30th Details →
Off-White’s successful collaboration with Converse is getting a highly-anticipated re-release at the end of this month!
Luckily, Off-White and Converse have delivered, releasing their collaboration once more but with no word on whether or not they’ll make another comeback in the future – will you be getting a pair for your own collection?
The design is a perfect combination of white canvas uppers, in the classic Converse high-tops design, and Off-White signature touches, such as bright orange zip ties within the lacing and head designer Virgil Abloh’s trademark black and white stripes along the soles. The sneakers were in high demand when they were first released in October 2018 and fans have been calling for a second drop ever since.
Sean Wotherspoon x adidas ZX 8000 Super Earth
- Released April 16th Details →
Callbacks to the fashion of the Y2K era are everywhere right now – and the spirit of the early 2000s is most definitely present in this bold new drop from top sneaker designer Sean Wotherspoon and adidas.
Featuring chunky soles and an eclectic patchwork design throughout, this is the perfect addition to the collection of anyone who likes their sneakers bold and bright. Wotherspoon has made no secret of his love of thrifting throughout his career, which seems to have inspired the vibrant mix of patterns, colours and fabrics that make up the design – right down to the fact that the design varies between the left shoe and the right, with one panel covered in a colourful sticker-style collage of the adidas logo.
They’re also 100% plant-based – and who doesn’t love a little guilt-free shopping spree?
Adidas Yeezy Quantum ‘Flash Orange’
- Released May (exact date TBA) Details →
Since adidas began collaborating with Yeezy, not much has changed about the overall design of the Quantum range – mainly because there’s little room for improvement.
However, it’s clear that the collaborators are exploring the release of some bold new colour schemes, the first being the ‘FLAORA’ – or ‘Flash Orange’ – design unveiled for release in May. While you could be forgiven for hearing the name of the colour and expecting something bold and bright, this range actually finds much of its colour in subtle earth tones and pops of bronze, with a ‘flash’ of orange in smaller accents.
We know by now that anyone who’s anyone has a pair of Yeezys somewhere within their collection, so if you’re yet to join the club, we think that the Yeezy Quantum ‘Flash Orange’ range is a pretty good place to start.
Nike Air Force 1 Low Tear-Away Fauna Brown Arctic Punch
- Released May 15th Details →
Another hotly-anticipated release from Nike’s womens range hits shelves everywhere on May 15th.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Tear-Aways in Fauna Brown Arctic Punch are a lesson in how to carry off the distressed look whilst still managing to look fresh and new. These are a little less vibrant than many of Nike’s other upcoming drops for 2021, though that’s sure to show itself as a positive when it comes to long-term wearability. We all need a pair of sneakers that we can rely on to go with anything – the Air Force 1 Low Tear-Aways in Fauna Brown fit that bill nicely.
Featuring a distressed patchwork design that incorporates an eclectic mix of fabrics and earth-toned colours, this is an addition to your wardrobe that you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again.
Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Mono Collection
Released June 21st Details →
Yeezy kicks off its summer release schedule with the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Mono collection, updating the fan-favourite design with a new range of colours, including Cinder (deep grey and true black), Mist (taupe), Clay (sand) and Ice (cold blue).
A new look that fits in perfectly with the Yeezy brand, these are sure to be the sneaker of the summer, with the new colours acting as the ideal complement to Yeezy’s design trademarks. Still present is Yeezy’s staple sole and slick, uncomplicated upper – a silhouette that works brilliantly with the new colours.
Sure to be seen everywhere in the months following their hotly-anticipated release, this is a drop worth setting several reminders for.
