Regal twins with royal ties? It’s no surprise that Ladies Eliza and Amelia Spencer have quickly risen to prominence in the international social and fashion scene.
Princess Diana‘s nieces (and thus cousins of William and Harry), Eliza and Amelia Spencer, have swapped their quiet existence in Cape Town for the most elite cosmopolitan circles of London and New York. Are you (like us) desperate to know more about the 29-year-old It-Girls? Well, here’s all you need to know!
The twins’ parents are Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer (Princess Diana’s brother) and Victoria Lockwood, a former model. They are also the younger sisters of the fellow It-Girl, Kitty Spencer. The Spencer family’s seat in the UK is Althorp, a 13,000-acre estate.
The sisters were actually born in the UK but raised in Cape Town, South Africa, where, despite their parents’ high-profile divorce, they had a “normal, relaxed childhood” devoid of the constant public attention that their aunt Diana was frequentlty trying to escape. However, this “normal” life was certainly not without its luxuries. They attended prestigious private schools while growing up at Silverhurst, a gated estate in the wealthy district of Constantia.
Ladies Amelia and Eliza, together with Kitty, initially gained national attention in the UK in 2011 after attending the their cousin Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton. Three stunning blondes? How could they not (particularly in those fascinators) steal the show?
Amelia studied at the University of Cape Town, where she met her longterm partner, water polo player and fitness instructor Greg Mallett. She began her career as a wedding planner in Cape Town, where she oversaw dozens of weddings, and is now likely organising her own wedding, since she and Greg got engaged in 2020.
Eliza, on the other hand, went to Varsity College to study psychology and criminology but discovered a talent for interior design amid the COVID lockdown. She’s been dating her boyfriend, Channing Millerd, for a few years now. Channing is the CEO of a blockchain-based firm that uses developing technologies to trace supply chains.
The duo, who have recently moved to the UK, have been making increasingly high-profile appearances at dazzling events throughout the world, from the Venice Film Festival to London Fashion Week.
Most recently, the Spencers made their mark during New York Fashion Week. The first row at Michael Kors is difficult to surpass in terms of New York Fashion Week hierarchy and the Spencer sisters provided an extra touch of British blue-blooded elegance to his A-list guest list, which also included Blake Lively and Brooke Shields.
