May 26, 2022

From billionaire Richard Branson’s Necker Island to five-star getaway properties in the tropical Isles, here are the top three private islands to rent this summer.

When dreaming about how we would like to spend our time away from work, it often involves heading off to some exotic, faraway destination.

People often dream of visiting a deserted island or some remote and hidden place away from the crowds and noise of big cities. It seems natural that a dream life should be one of rest, calm, sun and a natural environment. So when it comes to staying on a paradise island – why not try something you will be talking about for the rest of your life?

Here are the top three private islands to rent:

Necker Island, British Virgin Islands

Necker Island is a 30-hectare paradise in the British Virgin Islands north of Virgin Gorda. In 1978, Richard Branson got the deal of a lifetime when he purchased Necker Island. Branson paid a mere $180,000 for the private island. I bet the previous owner is weeping with regret. Today, the billionaire and Virgin Group founder turned Necker Island into a fabulous resort and playground complete with a nature reserve, watersports, spa, and luxury villas.

Now worth a whopping $113 million, guests can spend a night at this palatial estate for a minimum of a seven-night stay costing $105,000 per night. Private jets fly into nearby islands, and guests travel to Necker by boat. Upon arrival, every guest is greeted with champagne, and from then it doesn’t stop flowing.

World-class chefs prepare the finest meals, and tennis instructors are on hand 24/7 to help guests perfect their skills on the court. Yachts can dock off the coast, and the island will soon be converted entirely to clean energy.

Sitting on top of the kingdom is what the website describes as a Balinese-style house which holds guest rooms and suites – all with panoramic ocean views, a plunge pool and a spacious terrace. Necker Island is the ultimate secluded, private getaway with warm turquoise waters, a lush, tropical landscape, and many things to do on land and water.

Kokomo Private Island, Fiji

Next up, we have the Kokomo Private Island, located in Fiji. Famous for its pristine reefs that set the scene for an unrivalled experience, the island can be described as “a place where spectacular white sand beaches are yours for the taking, where privacy is paramount, service is superior, and you are the priority”, states Kokomo.

This island offers a retreat for families, a haven for honeymooners, and a paradise for lovers of authentic barefoot experiences. Bookings require a 12-night minimum stay from $36,000 per night, offering private villas and residences. Their website provides a host of fun-filled activities to experience around the 140-acre intimate destination. The list is endless, from fishing, diving, surfing, and sailing to private tours both on and off the island – the list is endless.

The picture-perfect accommodation is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, with each residence offering captivating views from sunrise to sunset.

Finally on our list is the Over Yonder Cay Island, located in the heart of the idyllic and secluded Exumas chain right in the Caribbean. Nestled in the Bahamas, this exclusive island rental starts at $44,000 per day based on 12 guests.

This unique private island welcomes parties to stay in four beautifully designed villas, all with secluded beaches and breathtaking views. A former remote fishing outpost, the island has been transformed into an eco-friendly haven for those seeking authentic and sustainable luxury.

According to the website, “each residence comes with infinity pools, jacuzzis, private beaches, private al fresco dining and lounging, and comfortable, fully air-conditioned living spaces.” Not to mention “each villa has satellite TVs, a Kaleidescape entertainment library, a Crestron control system, Wi-Fi internet and iPads.”

Now, this is luxury and, above all, total privacy.
