The Met Gala 2022 | The Best Dressed Stars

May 3, 2022

While the Met Gala is all about raising money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume institute and new “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” exhibit, let’s be honest: We’re all here for the fashion.

Yesterday was the first Monday in May, and the 2022 Met Gala was back on track after two years of disruptions owing to the pandemic. This year’s red carpet offered the type of over-the-top looks we’ve come to anticipate from the “Oscars of Fashion,” thanks to the night’s theme, “Gilded Glamour.”

Below, browse the twelves most jaw-dropping looks from the Met Gala 2022.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian took the theme of Gilded Glamour not so literally, so as to embody the Gilded Age, but rather shimmied into Marilyn Monroe’s original dress (yes, the very same) worn during the actress’s iconic delivery of “Happy Birthday, Mr. Kennedy.” Because the garment is an archived piece of American history, Kardashian only wore it for a few minutes, but we think it is very well worth it.

Gigi Hadid

We love Gigi Hadid‘s 2022 Met Gala look – it’s total “Gilded Glamour” meets “Fetishcore.”

Emma Chamberlian

Emma Chamberlain is Cartier’s newest ambassador and was dripping in diamonds on the Met Gala red carpet, as well as presenting a modern tke on the puffed sleeves. We love it.

Anderson .Paak

Anderson .Paak‘s was seen showing off some serious dance moves as he stepped out in a beautiful embroidered coat by Gucci

Lizzo

Lizzo was right on theme, looking like renaissance royalty at the 2022 Met Gala – and with a flute, to boot.

Maude Apatow

Euphoria star Maude Apatow walked the red (and white and blue) red carpet at her first Met Gala in a sheer black dress, which was pure Old Hollywood sophistication.

Vanessa Hudgens

The ‘Queen of Coachella’ Vanessa Hudgens officially arrived at the Met Gala, proving her style range by swapping festival for formal.

Evan Mock

Can Evan Mock do no wrong? The answer is yes. The actor wore a Head of State corset suit with a large ruff around the neck, black square-toe boots, and Cartier jewellery.

Erykah Badu

Thom Browne pulled on his experiences as an athlete, as well as America’s love affair with sports, to create a look that was just perfectly Erykah Badu.

Laura Harrier

Laura Harrier demonstrates that a Met Gala stylist doesn’t have to go to extremes to earn admiration. The ensemble is a winner without going overboard, thanks to velvet opera gloves, a chunky necklace, and a subtle metallic shimmer on her square-neck gown.

Jessica Chastain

We’re here to argue that Jessica Chastain took a big gamble, and it paid off. The actor’s outfit, a silver snake-embellished sequin gown meant to evoke a fortune teller, could have easily come across as in poor taste. However, this look became one of the most fascinating on the red carpet thanks to the smart design and the gown’s understated scarlet tone.

Blake Lively

Did Blake Lively win the 2022 Met Gala? We think so. The Met Gala is known for its extravagant fashion, which Lively fully embraced on Monday evening, arriving in one gown and then unwrapping it on the Met’s steps to unveil another underneath. Inspired by New York City’s architecture, the blue accents paid homage to the Statue of Liberty, while the golden design symbolised the Empire State Building.
