It’s the Emmy Awards 2021! Welcome to the 73rd Primetime TV Ceremony. This years event was bright!
For more than a year, television has been a welcomed distraction to those stuck at home during the pandemic.
However, 19 September 2021, marks a special time of year when we all come together to celebrate the best in TV shows and streaming.
Welcome to the 73rd Primetime TV Ceremony.
This year there are 44 first time nominee leads from across the globe. The more traditional event, hosted by Cedric The Entertainer, had limited attendance this year as COVID-19 vaccines and negative test results were required.
In addition to the A-list nominees, there was also a star-studded list of presenters including Angela Bassett, Jennifer Coolidge, Dan and Eugene Levy, Sarah Paulson and Seth Rogen.
The event, which was broadcasted live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, however, did not disappoint.
Cedric got the crowd on their feet to dance along to his musical performance which was based on his love for TV.
There were even special featured appearances by LL Cool J, Little Dickie and Rita Wilson.
Check out the hugely entertaining full opening performance below:
A completely transformed Seth Rogan, took to the stage to present the first award of the night and hilariously teased everyone in the room after pointing out how there was just too many people in one small space.
Cedric The Entertainer immediately came to the rescue, in his monologue, to inform the celebrities that everyone was indeed vaccinated.
Platforms like Apple TV Plus, Netflix and HBO Max were poised to win with streaming shows like “The Crown,” “Ted Lasso” and “Mare of Easttown” at the forefront.
…And boy did they win BIG. In fact, we had the same reaction as actress Hanna Waddingham:
“Ted Lasso” picked up four statues for its first season, including the: Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor award. This of course went to Jason Sudeikis.
Meanwhile “The Crown” did what everyone expected by sweeping up the acting categories and snagged the Emmy for Outstanding Drama, winning seven awards for the night.
“Mare Of Easttown” took home the Emmy for Oustanding Supporting Actress and Actor In a Limited Series Or Movie and Kate Winslet bagged her trophy for Outstanding Leading Actress.
Ru Paul, the leading star in his show “Rupaul’s Drag Race”, went down in Emmy’s history books as the most awarded African-American artist ever for his devoted work to his pride and joy.

The Colours Were Trending On The Red Carpet!
The Emmys 2021 had no shortage of great looks, ranging from stunning to downright sophisticated.
This year the stars went all out and seemed to follow a very brightly coloured theme.

I bet the team reacted the same way as American comedian and actor, Stephen Colbert and his team did when they won their Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special:
