The Best Fashion Campaigns Of Spring/Summer 2022

February 5, 2022

Favourite brands are riding the wave of celebrity power. Mere days into the new year, they began releasing celebrity-packed campaigns for spring 2022.

Following a star-studded fall/winter 2021 campaign season, some of our favourite brands are riding the wave of celebrity power. Mere days into the new year, they began releasing celebrity-packed campaigns for spring 2022. Take Cher’s appearance in an Ugg advert, Michael Kors‘ tribute to New York with Kendall Jenner, and Hunter Schafer‘s reunion with Prada.

Below are nine of our favourite SS22 campaigns of the season so far.

Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait has launched the campaign for their spring 2022 collection, which was previewed at London Fashion Week. And guess what, it features none other than Bella Hadid and was shot by Harley Weir. According to Han Chong, the brand’s founder and creative director, the goal of the campaign was to “bring to life all the different sides of [Bella’s] character.”

Chong was influenced by the eventual transition to experiencing life outside of our homes—whenever that moment may be.

Givenchy

Givenchy‘s spring campaign, which features models Kendall Jenner, Ilias Loopmans, He Cong, and others, received a painterly touch from artist Josh Smith. The shoot is photographer Heji Shin’s second big ad for the French label. Produced by the brand’s creative director Matthew Williams, a mixed media video focuses on Givenchy’s Kenny bag as the models frolic around fields and count ‘Loves me, loves me not’ rose petals.

Balenciaga

Demna tapped Kim Kardashian West for Balenciaga‘s SS22 ads as part of his celeb-focused vision for Spring 2022. Kim Kardashian has been (nearly) solely wearing Balenciaga for a little over seven months, (not so discreetly) hinting at a broader association with the luxury brand. The result of such effort is a spring commercial featuring the fashion mogul—of course, snapping a selfie—for the new season.

Versace

The Hadid sisters, together with Donatella Versace, are back in the spotlight for Versace‘s SS22 campaign. For inspiration, photographers Mert & Marcus turned to heritage Versace imagery by Richard Avedon. The campaign’s main pillars were sisterhood, community, and friendship, according to the brand.

“Family is always at the heart of everything I do, which is why I love Bella and Gigi so much,” said the fashion designer in a statement. “They perfectly exemplify the strength between sisters, and they share that message to our Versace sisterhood worldwide. I want this campaign to be a warm hug to the global Versace family at the start of 2022!”

Miu Miu

The micro-mini skirt that sent the Internet into a frenzy finally has a marketing campaign. Miu Miu enlisted a group of young creatives to model the collection for spring 2022, evoking the Italian high fashion house’s carefree ésprit. Ever Anderson, Emma Corrin and Hailey Bieber all feature in the ads.

UGG

For the SS22 campaign, UGG enlisted worldwide celebrity entertainer and humanitarian Cher to feature in new ads while wearing iconic UGG silhouettes (the Classic Mini boot and Coquette slippers, to be exact). The singer was photographed at her Malibu house by Neil Favila and spoke to the cameras about her work, her love for the planet, and gave advice on being herself.

Jimmy Choo

Hailey Bieber introduces a selection of clothing and accessories for Jimmy Choo as the star of the luxury label’s SS22 campaign. Photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti captured the images against a backdrop of the metropolis in Los Angeles. Bieber models the BING in bright lime and the SATYA floral scarf sandal, as well as new silhouettes of the label’s iconic VARENNE bag.

Michael Kors

Designer Michael Kors loves paying homage to New York City and for his label’s SS22 campaign he enlisted photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin to snap Kendall Jenner posing against the Tudor City sign on the roof of Prospect Tower in Manhattan.

“When I think about what endures, it’s love — romantic love, but also love for your friends, your family and for your city,” said Kors in a statement. “With this campaign, we wanted to bring to life urban romance and the unique juxtaposition of the strength and grit of New York City with the love that it inspires time and again.”

Prada

Tom Holland for Prada SS22 Campaign (photographed by David Sims)

Hunter Schafer was appointed one of Prada‘s faces in 2020, just a few months after Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada revealed a new collaborative approach to designing for the Italian house. Along with models Lina Zhang, Selena Forrest, and Julia Nobis, the actress wears the season’s ladylike designs for spring.

Prada’s SS22 campaign continues to investigate the themes of desire and sensuality in fashion, as seen in Prada’s latest runway display. The photographs, which were taken by photographer David Sims, highlight personal interactions between person and garment while also acknowledging the sensuality of the spring ’22 designs. Schafer is shown lacing up a leather shirt in one shot.

Tom Holland joins the ranks of other Handsome Famous Thespians who’ve appeared for the Italian brand (most famously a young Willem Dafoe and Joaquin Phoenix) for the brand’s menswear campaign. Just like in his films, Holland gives a faultless performance as Prada’s leading man.
