After 45 years of success, the B-52s, one of the most popular and long-lasting rock & roll bands will say goodbye with a farewell tour at the end of this year.
THE band has recently announced the dates of their farewell tour The Final Tour Ever of Planet Earth. B-52s will perform the dates across the US between August to November.
The band will kick off their tour on August 22 in Seattle, Washington – will be joined by the special guest, The Tubes – and wrap up their tour on November 11 with a final blowout at The Fox Theater, Atlanta, and will be joined by two special bands, The KC and Sunshine Band.
Tickets for the B52s farewell tour have been already on sale now you can book your spot via ticketmaster.com. For the full information about their tour check the band’s website.
Of the farewell tour, one of the band members, Fred Schneider, 70, said: “No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it’s time for one last blow-out with our friends and family… our fans. And with KC & The Sunshine Band and The Tubes on board, it’s going to be one hell of a farewell party at these concerts.”
Another band member, Kate Pierson, 74, added, “Who knew what started as a way to have some fun and play music for our friends at house parties in Athens in 1977 would evolve into over 45 years of making music and touring the world. It’s been cosmic.”
In 1979, B-52s dominated the New Wave scene with hits like Rock Lobster. In the late 1980s, they broke into the pop charts with Love Shack and Roam.
In addition to announcing their farewell tour, the B-52s also announced that a long-awaited documentary about the band will finally be released in early 2023. As of now, the film’s title has not yet been decided, but it will feature their unreleased archival photos and videos. The documentary is directed by Craig Johnson and executive produced by Fred Armisen.
