Epcot; a place known for its unique attractions, international cuisine, and world-class entertainment. This is an area of Disney World that can truly be considered international; the park is an ode to the world’s cultures and cuisines, with offerings from around the globe.

According to serious Disney fans, the Epcot Park is home to the most outstanding restaurants in the whole of Disney World. This naturally makes the theme park – which has often been described as a “permanent world’s fair” – a must-see for any foodie fan, or culinary enthusiast.

With an array of savoury, sweet, and unique dishes from around the world, there is something to tantalise any taste bud here.

From the classic favourite “spaghetti and meatballs” made with Italian sausage in Norway, right through to the traditional Japanese sushi offered in Japan’s Katsura Grill, we took a closer look at what makes Epcot so special from a gastronomic perspective, and the reasons why you simply have to visit.

What is Epcot?

Before we dive into the art and culture behind Epcot, let’s take a look at what exactly it is. Originally conceived as an educational park focused on the culture and technology of the future, Epcot now serves as one of the most popular attractions in Disney World.

The park is divided into three areas: World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature, and is made up of pavilions showcasing cultures and histories from around the world.

The cultural wonders of Epcot

From the Mexico Pavilion to the Morocco Pavilion, Epcot is filled with unique cultures and histories. The pavilions provide an immersive experience allowing visitors to explore different countries from around the world, without having to set foot beyond Orlando.

Head to the France pavilion to discover a replica of a classic French village, complete with cobblestone paths, quaint shops, and gourmet restaurants. Or why not head over to China to enjoy a traditional Chinese circus performance, followed by a relaxing stroll through the Temple of Heaven?

Are you looking for souvenirs to take home? In that case, you might be well-advised to check out the Japan pavilion to explore the world of manga and anime, or you could shop for traditional souvenirs. This is ideal if you are seeking something a little more unusual to take back to the folks at home!

In total, there are 11 pavilions located around the World Showcase Lagoon, each offering a unique and immersive experience.

The culinary wonders of Epcot

For the foodie fanatics, there is no better place to explore than Epcot. From classic Italian dishes to traditional Mexican cuisine, you can sample flavours from around the world without venturing outside the borders of Orlando (until it’s time for you to go home, of course). Some of the top restaurants and experiences that you simply cannot miss include:

  • Chefs de France

For the best French experience outside Paris itself, head to the French pavilion and check out the Chefs de France. This is an authentic French bistro packed with specialities such as French Onion soup, Boeuf Bourguignon, Ratatouille, and an unmissable Mac and Cheese made from gruyere cheese.

  • Rose and Crown Dining Room

Do you fancy a day in a classic English pub? Then head to the United Kingdom pavilion and check out the Rose and Crown Dining Room, complete with cosy booths and traditional pub dishes such as fish & chips, Shepherd’s Pie, and Bangers & Mash. Don’t forget to sample a pint while you are there!

  • Garden Grill Restaurant

Located in the Land pavilion of the World Nature area, this is the ultimate choice for families who are looking for a unique dining experience. Home to an all-you-can-eat buffet of classic American dishes such as BBQ ribs, burgers, and turkey, the restaurant also offers live entertainment in the form of Chip & Dale – perfect if you have young children!

  • Sunshine Seasons

For a more casual dining experience, check out Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavilion. With a variety of dishes to choose from, this is the best place to go if the weather turns grey – there is plenty of indoor seating to take advantage of while you enjoy your food!

  • Regal Eagle Smokehouse

Those on the hunt for an authentic American BBQ experience should head to the Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the America pavilion for classic dishes such as pulled pork sandwiches, brisket mac and cheese, and smoked turkey legs – a great option for those looking for a quick and tasty meal.

How to make the most of Epcot

Now that we have taken a closer look at some of the main things to see and do during your visit to Epcot, it is time to consider the best ways you can plan ahead to extract the most from every moment of your trip. With our help, you can make sure your entire family is left smiling and content!

  • Be smart with accommodation

This is a good tip for any visit to Disney, but Epcot in particular can be an intense and exciting experience, so you should be sure to plan your accommodation accordingly.

Staying in one of the Epcot resorts is an easy way to enjoy the park with ease, as you will be able to easily walk from your hotel room back to the parks whenever you need a break. The downside of this option, however, is that it can be pricey, and you may not have the space you need to unwind.

As an alternative, we recommend renting a villa in Champions Gate or a similar resort that isn’t located within the Disney World complex itself. This will help ensure you all have plenty of room to relax and recuperate after a long day in the park.

  • Choose your attractions wisely

Epcot has an astounding range of attractions, shows, and rides that you can experience, so it is important to plan your visit carefully.

Before you go, take some time to decide which attractions are most important for you to visit. This way, you will be able to make the most of your time in the park and hit all of the highlights.

  • Be flexible with your eating times

Epcot is packed with enchanting and rewarding places to eat, so you should make sure you factor in enough time to sample a few of them!

For larger groups, it may be worth booking ahead for some restaurants; this way, you can guarantee that there will be space for everyone. If this isn’t possible, being flexible with your mealtimes will be the key to success. If possible, try to plan meals around rides and shows, so that you can make the most of your time in the park.
