Given its natural beauty, warm weather, and numerous activities to enjoy both in daylight and nighttime, the Bahamas boosted its tourism and continuously built interest among vacation-goers from all over the globe. 

Preparing for a Bahamas trip? Here are the must-do activities in the Bahamas this 2023.

Beaches

The Bahamas is well-known for its beautiful beaches. Of course, pristine beaches come with varying water activities you can choose from and enjoy. What’s more to love in the Bahamas is its unique beach activity choices. This includes swimming with friendly pigs, turtles, and nurse sharks. 

Swim with the Pigs. If you want to enjoy the sea, swimming pigs found on the uninhabited island of Big Major Cay in Exuma, also known as Pig Beach, can make the experience more one-of-a-kind for you! Although you can visit the beach any time of the year. Visiting around September to November will ensure better weather and fewer visitors. 

Swim with Nurse Sharks. On the other hand, if you want something more adventurous, you can try swimming with nurse sharks. Found at Compass Cay, these nurse sharks are safe to swim with. Unlike most beliefs about sharks, nurse sharks are more easygoing and harmless. All you have to do is dive into the water and gently pet or swim with them.

Aside from the mentioned extraordinary water activities, you can also try common activities like diving, snorkeling, fishing, boat tours, private beach tours, and many others. Make sure that before visiting these places, you are well-accustomed to the dos and don’ts, make advance bookings, know when is the best time to visit, and know how much is a trip to the bahamas, its beaches, etc., to prepare sufficient money before the trip.

A simple yet fun thing to do when going on a trip is to enjoy the city, its culture, and its people! One way to achieve this is through city tours. Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, can provide you with a wide range of activities you can enjoy for the day. This includes attractions visits, bike tours, and food-tasting side activities to make sure both your eyes and tummy are full throughout the trip. 

Walking Tour. Walking tours allow you to closely see the city’s beauty, including its best places and attractions. Some beautiful spots you can find in Nassau include Queen’s Staircase, also known as 66 Steps, which showcases a part of Nassau’s history with its incredible limestone rock stairs from 1973. Pirates of Nassau found in Old Towne also exist if you also want an adventure in the city. The interactive pirate experience includes exhibits, galleries, and fun activities for all ages. 

Other incredible places to visit during your walking tour are Ardastra Gardens and Wildlife Conservation Centre, known for their marching flamingos, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas for paintings and sculptures, the Government House, and many other downtown and bay streets locations in the city

Food Tour. No one wouldn’t want to go on a vacation without trying the place’s signature authentic foods and delicacies. Food tours in the Bahamas may allow you to taste different taste locations, meet local chefs, and learn more about the influence of culture on their food. From whole meals to desserts, food tours can surely be a worthy activity on your Bahamas vacation. Its rich waters enable the existence of varying seafood recipes, but its well-known staple food is conch.

You may choose to do the tours yourself or join tour bookings available in the Bahamas. Just make sure you check first the locations and packages included in a tour booking, or if you wish to do it alone, do some research to have adequate knowledge about the places and foods you plan to try and visit.

Nightlife & Shopping

Trying bars or beach clubs around varying city locations and beaches can be a great choice if you plan to enjoy or end your trip on a memorable note. Some popular drinks in the Bahamas include rum, tropical cocktails, and many other flavored liquors. On the other hand, if you enjoy collecting items from the island country, you can shop in the Nassau Market for baskets, hats, and other straw-made souvenirs. Other than that, you can still explore other shops if you wish to buy more items like clothes and accessories.
