The long-awaited SATC reboot is just weeks away, and the leading star, Sarah Jessica Parker, has come out to play.
The rumors are true. Sex And The City (SATC) is coming back, and the ten-episode revival, titled And Just Like That, will drop on the 9th of December 2021 – so mark your calendars.
Sex and the City is an American romantic comedy-drama television series created by Darren Star for HBO. “The series premiered in the United States on June 6, 1998, and concluded on February 22nd, 2004, with 94 episodes broadcast over six seasons,” says the Insider.
And it didn’t stop there. After two very successful films – Sex And The City and Sex And The City 2 – the third movie was canceled due to heavy demands made by actress Kim Cattrall says Vanity Fair.
But as they say in show business – the show must go on!
According to HBO Max, “all members of the original cast – Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis – will be present in the new 2021 show. Unfortunately, Kim Cattrall won’t return to reprise her role as Samantha Jones.”
The star posted a short, simple video on her Instagram account saying:
“I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?”
Rather than a new season of the original series, the reboot is being described as a “new chapter” entirely.
The show will follow the main characters as they navigate the journey from their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s, according to an August press release.
When it comes to the star of the show, Sarah Jessica Parker, the leading star of the show, her character Carrie Bradshaw, is the one who we all have come to love. Carrie always appeared to be so well put together. But then again, so did Parker.
We have watched Sarah Jessica Parker grow up on TV and in film. The Sex And The City star started her acting career when she was just a child, starring in a Broadway production of The Innocents.
The Ohio native would go on to appear in her first big TV role in Square Pegs in the early 1980s, before appearing as Janey in the movie Girls Just Want To Have Fun in 1985.
She was only 20 years old when the film made her a star, propelling Parker to roles in memorable movies like Honeymoon In Vegas, The First Wives Club and Hocus Pocus.
But it wasn’t until 1988 that Sex And The City made Parker a household name and a style and beauty icon whose looks would be copied around the world.
Carrie – and now Parker’s alter-ego – became known for her outrageous outfits, with hair and make-up known to match.
Today, the actress is most famous for her role as New York City columnist Carrie Bradshaw in HBO’s multiple movies — a role she’ll be playing again in 2021.
Because Parker has been so closely associated with her Sex and the City character for so many years, you might think that she’s just as focused on fashion and makeup as Carrie is.
Here are three times the star suited her role in Sex And The City to a T:
1. Sex And The City’s High-End Fashion Game
From early in the show when Parker rocked long, wild curly hairstyles, to straightening her mane for a silky smooth finish, the star always seemed to be impeccably made up. Given her character’s commitment to beauty, fans have come to attach this 56-year-old and mom of three to high-end fashion and style assets seen in her character.
Sex And The City is all about high-end fashion and this is something that Parker implements in her personal style too. For example, in 1990 she stepped out onto the red carpet with a Versace two-piece ensemble consisting of an embellished jacket, gold bra and red velvet pants. This emphasizes one of her more adventurous looks.
Let’s not forget about her famous Dolce & Gabbana 2018 Met Gala look which featured a golden gown filled with ruby red jewels and a tall headpiece to match.
Normally she is seen sporting her trademark eyeliner and cheek highlighting blush but the fashion coming out of the SATC reboot is re-energising all the iconic designer labels, layering and accessories galore.
Carrie Bradshaw is staying true to her trademark style with over the shoulder hats and sky-high heels at the ready and now setting a new trend – carrying two handbags.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s personal style and motivations to match are ideal for her stand-out role for Carrie Bradshaw.
2. The Sex And The City Confidence That Oozes Out From Carrie Bradshaw
To rock these fashion looks, Bradshaw oozes bubbly stand-out confidence. The character of Carrie came easy for Parker as she is also practical, down-to-earth, with strong ideas about right and wrong.
She is orderly, organized, systematic, controlled, and once committed – she employs decisive and methodical steps to problem-solving without giving up easily. The role of Carrie brought out Parker’s more introverted side.
In an interview with NBC News, she said:
“I think confidence can be an internal experience; not everybody has to feel your confidence. I’ve spent a huge amount of time listening and learning and trying to be around the best in their industry. I think that what I learn and what I hear, what I put into practice is my form of confidence.” – Sarah Jessica Parker.
3. Sarah Jessica Parker’s Relationship With Mr. Big In Sex And The City
When it comes to relationships, Carrie and John Big, played by Chris Noth, are the central relationship of Sex And The City.
According to Vogue, “as confirmed in the trailer, the first two episodes of And Just Like That will drop on HBO Max in the US and Sky Comedy and NOW on 9 December 2021, with a further episode dropping every Thursday for the next eight weeks.”
