3 Cheers For National Tequila Day!

July 24, 2020

Today, we celebrate one of the world’s greatest drinks

Andale! How are you today? We’re doing great as today is our favourite day of the year… It’s National Tequila Day! Time to gather up some amigos and celebrate the Mexican spirit with cocktails from the pioneers and creators of two tequila world firsts; Maestro Dobel.

National Tequila Day

First up is the world’s first ‘Cristalino’ a clear coloured multi-aged tequila labelled Maestro Dobel Diamante. Apart from being Mexico’s best-selling ultra-premium tequila this crystal-clear spirit (hence the classification ‘Cristalino’) is complex, silky, smooth and robust – so much so that it has started an international trend for clear tequila that once unheard of. This is the perfect tequila for sipping neat or for using as a base for cocktails.

Maestro Dobel's Humito

Next is Maestro Dobel’s Humito, the world’s first ever smoked silver tequila. This rare, almost whisky-esque spirit neatly balances complex blue agave flavours and deep smokiness. It adopts its smokey taste from the aromatic mesquite wood which is used during the cooking of the agave – an elegant reinterpretation of 17th century traditions. Superb as a straight aperitif or as a base spirit for cocktails.

Today, we celebrate Mexico and tequila itself – a drink that dates in its current form to the fourteen century but that has been produced in one form or another in the country since the time of the Aztecs. What better way to do so than to raise a toast to that rich history with Maestro Dobel, a spirit maker that has kept the original traditions of manufacture alive through the ages.

All Maestro Dobel’s pioneering, single estate tequilas are handcrafted and perfected in small batches. The Jimadores, the experts in the agave fields, select only the best of the season and wait for the optimum moment to harvest, allowing the blue weber agave to grow for at least eight years in the rich soil, under the shadows of Tequila’s volcanoes in Jalisco, Mexico.

All aspects of the founder’s artistry are preserved – for generations the family business has prided itself on refusing to stand still and is set on inspiring and delighting tequila connoisseurs worldwide with the highest quality white spirits and carefully aged, single malt whisky-like tequilas.

To help you celebrate National Tequila Day in style, we have included three perfect recipes for festive tequila-based cocktails…Enjoy and happy Friday!!
