With Michelin’s annual award season abandoned in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restaurants across New York have been eagerly waiting to find out whether or not they made the grade for 2021.
With many restaurants in the running having been closed for much of the previous year, head chefs and owners have had plenty of time to reflect, regroup and put their best foot forward for their next Michelin inspection, with many overhauling their menu entirely.
Now, at long last, Michelin have revealed which of the city’s restaurants have been recognised in this year’s guide, with 68 star awards given to restaurants across almost as many categories of cuisine.
There was even a brand new star awarded to farm-to-table spot Blue Hill at Stone Barns, who were given Michelin’s first-ever New York green star in a nod to the restaurant’s ‘unwavering commitment to sustainable gastronomy’. It’s an award that we predict many restaurateurs will be setting their sights on over the next few years, with three-star spot Eleven Madison Park having recently announced a brand new 100% plant-based menu.
So, which NYC chefs will be celebrating their highly-coveted appearance in the Michelin guide this year?
Here’s every restaurant in New York that was recognised by Michelin in 2021.
