Lizzo and the Big Grrrls are back with Lizzoverse, a once-in-a-lifetime cosmic event.
It’s a well-known fact that the world we’re in is Lizzo’s world and we’re all just living in it — soaking up all the positive vibes the musical superstar throws our way. But now, it seems, the world is not enough for our beloved Lizzo, she’s back for more. This time, taking claim to the entire universe. It’s about damn time.
Lizzo has been wasting no time promoting her new highly anticipated album Special, singing with Britain’s lovechild James Cordon on Carpool Karaoke, and sharing what can only be described as a very questionable yet interesting tracklist. The album features songs such as “Coldplay”, “I Love You B*tch” and “Everybody’s Gay”. I guess we can’t argue with that, especially seeing as we are really, just living in her world after all. We love you too B*tch!
If that wasn’t enough for you, the “Grrrls” singer has now announced an interstellar crossover with American Express, titled the Lizzoverse.
What is this Lizzoverse we speak of?
The 34-year-old singer-songwriter describes the Lizzoverse as an immersive cosmic light show experience created in synchronicity to her upcoming second album, Special. Set to be released this Friday.
The cosmic event will be presented by American Express and produced by the New York based marketing and event company Superfly. Lizzoverse is scheduled to take place in New York City’s Cipriani 25 Broadway. The event will commence at 10 am on Friday with shows set to repeat every two hours, finally ending on Sunday evening. However, don’t fret if you’re not in New York this weekend. Lizzo’s got you covered. Amazon Music will be live-streaming the full show on their Twitch channel this Friday at 6 p.m ET.
Lizzo announced the cosmic event this Monday — sharing an Instagram post that featured the event’s black-and-white promotional poster.
“I’m not a star…. I’m a whole damn Universe! Register for this once-in-a-lifetime cosmic event… where YOU can experience my new album ‘SPECIAL’ in my intergalactic universe ALL WEEKEND LONG.”
If you’re planning on attending this ethereal experience, you best be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as Lizzo, the queen, herself, will be making an exclusively illusive appearance. 100 complimentary tickets will be given away to American Express Card Members. Have your calendars marked and cards at the ready. Lizzo and the Big Grrrls are set to give those 100 lucky ticket holders a playback performance of Special in its entirety.
With Special set to be released this Friday 15, Lizzo has released singles “About Damn Time” in April, and “Grrrls” in June with no official music video released yet. The Christian Breslauer-directed video for “About Damn Time”, is just another reminder that we are in Lizzo’s simulation with the sexy superstar transforming an office building into a disco inferno, cooling herself off with a flute solo in the nearby swimming pool.
The two tracks are the singer’s first singles since sharing her track “Rumors” with Cardi B last year.
