Monday’s weekly World Health Organisation (WHO) briefing had a surprise virtual guest to break up the often dry combined atmosphere of academia, scientific research and policy; none-other than global superstar and queen of all media Lady Gaga made an appearance. The “Mother Monster”, as she’s known to her fans, announced that she will be hosting a first-of-its kind benefit concert to support healthcare workers around the world and called on fans to tune in.
Billed as “One World: Together at Home,” the event is in collaboration with Global Citizen, and will be broadcast live across the globe on both traditional television and digital platforms. Gaga curated the list of performers herself and they include huge names such as Elton John, Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, Lizzo, John Legend, Keith Urban, Chris Martin and many more and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert.
The event is sure to be historic in size and scope, with Gaga already raising $35 million in the past week alone. So – don’t forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, the 18th of April and check out the full list of performers and celebrity attendees below:
