In collaboration with Amazon Prime, Justin Bieber is set to celebrate the release of his new documentary, Justin Bieber: Our World this Friday, 8th October.
Exactly a month after announcing his upcoming collaboration with Amazon Prime, Justin Bieber is set to celebrate the release of his new documentary, Justin Bieber: Our World this Friday, 8th October.
The film will follow Bieber and his entourage in the lead-up to his famous New Year’s Eve 2020 concert, live-streamed from the rooftop of the Beverly Hilton. It was an event that many Bieber fans felt represented a new era for the star, whose musical prowess was overshadowed by a series of scandals during his late teens. Now 27, married to wife Hailey Bieber and with spirituality at the centre of much of his music, it’s clear he’s turned a corner – as the fans watching his New Year’s Eve performance in 2020 proudly observed.
The release of Our World will place Justin in good company when it comes to musicians who have released their own hit documentaries this year, with both Billie Eilish and Demi Lovato amongst the stars who have already opened up on camera and given fans an insight into their lives with their own films earlier in 2021.
This isn’t Bieber’s first documentary, of course. He has previously released two documentaries following him in the lead-up to notable performances, 2011’s Never Say Never and 2013’s Believe. These were followed again by Seasons in 2020, an intimate, in-depth look at Justin’s life and struggles with fame – something which many felt was long overdue, given his treatment in the press over the years.
Our World seems set to take a similarly sensitive approach in its portrayal of the realities and pressures of fame, especially given that the documentary is helmed by filmmaker Michael D. Ratner, the director of Demi Lovato’s aforementioned documentary series Dancing With The Devil.
Following the announcement of the documentary, Bieber said that performing live and connecting with his fans through his music is ‘deeply meaningful’ to him – something which we’re sure will shine through on screen.
“Especially during the past year, being able to provide a service and share my gifts to bring some happiness to people during such a sad and scary time has meant the world to me,” Bieber recently commented.
“This film documents an intense and exciting time, preparing for a return to the stage during this season of real uncertainty. Coming together with my team, overcoming the obstacles, and delivering a special show, surrounded by friends and family; it’s all here.”
A natural follow-up to Seasons, Our World sees Justin make his much-anticipated return to the stage – a true reminder that there’s plenty more to come from Justin Bieber.
Justin Bieber: Our World will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from October 8th.
