Ibiza To Host Its First Classical Music Festival In April

March 1, 2022

The team behind Verbier Festival are bringing some refined musical prowess to the Balearics next month.

A new classical music festival is set to take place in Ibiza this year from April 20-25 with concerts taking place at the Six Senses hotel and resort on Xarraca Bay nestled in the northern tip of the island.

While classical music may not be the music scene most synonymous with Ibiza, the festival intends to flood the island with rich musical culture and break down barriers between the world’s top classical music artists and the audience.

Ibiza Clásico will include an appearance from violin superstar David Garrett, a full performance of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and conductor Christoph Koncz, and a special jazz evening with Thomas Quasthoff.

During the six days of the festival, guests can relax at the lavish Six Senses resort that boasts infinity pools, wild cliffs and exclusive programs, whilst also attending open rehearsals potentially rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s finest classical musicians.

The resort also has ample self-care opportunities with a luxurious spa, various shops and several restaurants.

Every ticket is reportedly a backstage pass to live alongside the artists within the festival community and includes access to daily wellness activities including yoga, sound healing and breathwork accompanied by live music and performances.

The festival’s Artistic Directors Martin Engstroem and Avi Shoshani said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Jonathan Leitersdorf and his team at Six Senses Ibiza. Ibiza Clásico offers audiences the chance to experience great musicians in the stunning surroundings of Six Senses Ibiza and Xarraca Bay.”

Meanwhile, CEO of the Six Senses resort Neil Jacobs said: “Hosting Ibiza Clásico adds an extra layer of emotions to Six Senses Ibiza’s immersive cultural and spiritual programming and an enticing new spectrum to the wider Ibiza music scene. To hear such talented musicians playing, with the bay adding its own natural energy and acoustics, makes my heart sing!”

Ticket prices come in three categories – a single Day Pass costs $224 (€200), while a Deluxe package starts at $1,340 (€1,200). Guests looking for the most inclusive package can select Premium tickets which start at $2,235 (€2,000). Further information can be found here.
