Discover Boating Miami International Boat and Yacht Show Starts Today

February 15, 2023

Discover Boating Miami International Boat show is back – and it’s like the Super Bowl of yacht shows.

Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show (DMIB) is the love child of two huge industry events; The Miami International Boat Show and the Miami Yacht Show. Having joined forces, the Discover Boating Miami International Boat and Yacht Show comes in strong, hosting an impressive collection of boats, from super luxurious yachts to kayaks, as well as their latest innovations. Not to mention, it’s a great place to to rub elbows with the royalty of the nautical world.

Here’s what will be going down from the 15th of February to the 19th.

The Events

The Boat Show Experience

Taking place in Pride Park, the Boat Experience is all about understanding the lifestyle on sea. Including educational seminars, food trucks, and activity zones for the whole family, it’s an immersive opportunity to understand how ‘ship’ happens. And yes, that pun was just as painful to read as it was to write.

Check out the seminar schedule and grab your tickets here.

The Charged Electric Pavillion

The Charged Electric Pavillion welcomes exciting electrical innovations such as the award-winning Orca PWC, the X Shore Eelex 8000, and the E-Motion 180E Outboard. Happening at the Miami Beach Convention Centre it features electric gadgets, trinkets and products from some of the industry’s biggest and brightest manufacturers.

Superyacht Miami

The name says it all – the big players will be heading this way. You might not buy them, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get up close and personal with the world’s greatest yacht’s – that’s what they are out in display for after all, right? Left to the discretion of manufacturers and brokers, of course, you might even get to climb some of the vessels and pretend its your own. It’s all about manifestation.

Take note! There is no box office at the show so you need to get hold of your tickets before hand. We’re talking about a $130 price point for a day pass, or a preview one day ticket for $155, both of which you can buy here.

Winward VIP

Winward VIP is for when you’ve had enough of boats, gadgets and nautical trinkets, and you’d rather be sipping a martini instead. Besides an open bar and gourmet cuisine to delight in, there’s a whole bunch of extra perks if you make it to the VIP lounge, such as transfers, tickets to Art Wynwood (Feb 17-19) or a VIP Tote Bag from Douglas Elliman.

Providing the event for those looking to befriend and network in the nautical world, getting your hands on a VIP ticket may be the investment of the year. Sip champagne with renowned brokers, plan your next purchase or simply blend in with the crowd; you can’t go wrong with sitting at the VIP table.

Yachts After Dark

As the sun sets over the Miami skyline, the city comes alive with a vibrant energy that can only be found in Florida’s chaos. And what better way to experience it than on a yacht, with the sea breeze in your hair and the stars above you? It’s the ultimate way to party in style, and the DMIB’s upcoming event promises to be one for the books.

Everything gets better once the sun sets, and yachts are no exception. On Friday the 17th, from 7pm – 9pm EST at One Herald Plaza, the DMIB is organising one of their legendary parties – this is Miami after all and an event without a party to wind down is as unheard of as a snowy Ocean Drive. Living up to the city’s reputation, we can only imagine what the yacht afterparties will be like.

Access is only granted to the VIP boat show ticket holders and invitees, so expect an exclusive crowd to dance the night away with.

But, Why Rich Folk Like Boats Anyway?

Boats offer a chance to get away from it all. When you’re out on the water, there are no emails to answer, no meetings to attend, and no paparazzi to dodge. For the wealthy, who are constantly bombarded by demands and attention, this kind of escape is worth its weight in gold.

But it’s not just about solitude and relaxation. For those that have seen and done it all, vessels are a way of re-discovering. Want to sail to a remote island, dive into crystal-clear waters, or fish for your dinner? Check. Not to mention the social aspect. With a well-appointed yacht, one can host the most fabulous parties and events, impressing friends and guests with nautical prowess.

Finally, of course, there’s the bragging rights. Let’s face it, owning a boat is a status symbol. It says to the world, “I’ve made it, and I’m not afraid to flaunt it.” Whether it’s a sleek motor yacht, a classic sailboat, or a mega-yacht the size of a small island, the bigger and fancier, the better. It’s like a competition, and the rich love to win.
