Known for her often outrageous outfits, Cardi B did not disappoint at the 2021 American Music Awards in LA.
Sporting some of her boldest looks yet, the New York-born rapper Cardi B was attending the awards as both nominee and host. Not only did she take home the ‘Favourite Hip-Hop Song’ award for her song ‘Up’, but the 29-year-old star also easily achieved the most outfit changes, shocking fans with eight whole looks. Scroll down to take a look and decide your favourite.
Taking to the red carpet, Cardi B wowed attendees with a very theatrical Schiaparelli look, sporting a beautifully fitted black gown with a sweetheart neckline.
Cardi emanated luxury as she was accessorised with a pair of long black and gold gloves and an extravagant pair of huge gold earrings and a gold mask to match. She was covered by a black sheer veil too, just to add a little drama.
The rapper then appeared on the stage to host the awards, strutting in an Alexandre Vauthier black velvet gown with a high neck and a slit on the side. However, Cardi’s enormous feather headpiece was what stunned fans.
Cardi sparkled as she sat upon what appeared to be Louis Vuitton luggage bags in another velvet gown, but this time with glittering sleeve details and crystal thigh-high boots.
To accept her award for her hit song ‘Up,’ Cardi opted for a gorgeous and bright Jean Paul Gaultier number, which was gathered and sinched at her waist and floated ethereally behind her.
Next, the artist looked pretty in purple while hosting in a beautiful velvet Jean-Louis Sabaji gown with feathers and hand-embroidered Swarovski stones and crystals.
For her sixth outfit of the night (how was she not exhausted by this point?), Cardi B changed into a monochrome corset with mesh fingerless gloves and another impressive headset.
The host’s penultimate look was another Schiaparelli design consisting of a structured denim jacket with an elaborate shiny gold design. Cardi wore this with leather trousers, making it a much more casual look.
Cardi posed for her well-deserved award for Favourite Hip-Hop Song in a stunning white pleated gown with a jewel-embellished hood as her final look.
Despite impressing us all with her extravagant outfit changes, Cardi B was just one of the stars who made an impression at the ceremony last night. BTS, Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat all took home three awards while 18-year-old Olivia Rodrigo took home the trophy for New Artist of the Year.
