Rappers Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion stunned audiences with their Wireless Festival performance of smash hit “WAP”.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion reunited onstage for the first time in over a year at this year’s Wireless Festival, with both rappers having headline slots on Friday.
The Wireless Festival slot marked Cardi B’s second post-pandemic festival with the first being at Norway’s Stavernfestivalen.
Cardi B returned in peak form with a festival set featuring a massive 28 tracks — including fan favourites “Bodak Yellow” and a performance of her latest single “Hot Shit”.
During the encore, Cardi B welcomed Megan Thee Stallion on stage, with the duo treating fans to an exclusive performance of their controversial track “WAP”.
With Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion never far from drama, rapper Cardi B found herself involved in an altercation with fans during the performance.
Megan Thee Stallion on the other hand, whilst on her best behaviour during the set, has been linked to controversy in the past. The rapper has previously been involved with gangs in L.A with Thee Stallion involved in an attempted murder scandal.
Torey Lanez and Megan by Pitchfork
Back in 2020, a few weeks after the release of “WAP”, Megan shared details about how ex-partner and long-term friend Tory Lanez and an assailant had shot at her in an attempt to take her life.
Megan took to Instagram live where she made the accusations, stating that Canadian rapper Tory Lanez had shot at her and her friends in an attempt to take her life:
“You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying”.
Later that year, Lanez was arrested and charged twice for assault with a semi-automatic firearm and for carrying a loaded unregistered firearm. Since being released, Lanez has responded to the claims declaring himself innocent and remaining not guilty.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion were only two of the many household names featured at this year’s Wireless Festival with Jack Harlow, Niki Minaj, Lil Baby, and Jay Knox also performing.
Last week, rapper Cardi B released her first single of 2022, “Hot Shit”, a track that featured Kanye West and Lil Durk. The release marked her first new single since 2021’s “Bet It” and is the first single from her upcoming sophomore album scheduled for release later this year. The singer also took to Instagram to tease details about when the official music video would be released.
Cardi B praised Kanye’s collaborative participation on the track:
“Kanye gave me this verse a couple of months ago when he was just all over the media, because of all of the things that were going on, it’s personal. I had a lot of conversations with Kanye West. I learned so much about him and he’s such an amazing, sweet person.”
