Bafta Film Awards 2022: A Full List Of The Nominees

February 3, 2022

THE British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) has released its nominees for the 2022 award ceremony, set to take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday the 13th of March.

Denis Villeneuve’s science-fiction blockbuster Dune leads the way with 11 nominations, while Jane Campion’s brooding western The Power of the Dog, which won three Golden Globes last month, is up for eight at this year’s Baftas. Kenneth Branagh’s autobiographical drama Belfast is also up there with six nominations.

British nominees have largely done well so far this year, with Stephen Graham nominated for Best Actor in Boiling Point and Joanna Scanlan for Best Actress in After Love.

But some notable names were snubbed, including Olivia Coleman, Denzel Washington, Kirsten Dunst and Andrew Garfield, who won Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy Motion Picture at the Golden Globes.

The Baftas will be looking to bounce back from last year’s controversy surrounding British actor Noel Clarke, who had been given the award for outstanding British contribution to cinema just hours before allegations of harassment and bullying were made against him by 20 women. Bafta did not suspend Clarke’s award until two weeks later.

Rebel Wilson is set to host this year’s Baftas and said in a statement: “I am very honoured to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where Covid will no longer exist because it will clearly have been cancelled by then.”
