5 Celebrity Breakfast Favourites

July 18, 2020

Start your day like Chrissy Teigen and Selena Gomez

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and a good one can set you up with hours of energy for whatever you have planned. However, four months on from the beginning of the Coronavirus lockdown, many of us have fallen into the routine of eating the same foods day in, day out. We are all guilty of it – how many times this week have you started your morning with a plain bowl of porridge, or slice of toast?

What we need is some inspiration, so it is fortunate that many celebrities have shared with us before exactly what the eat to prepare them for the day ahead. Here are just five of the best celebrity breakfast ideas, and the directions you need to try them out for yourself…

Karlie Kloss’ Almond, Banana and Chocolate Shake

Karlie Kloss’ Almond, Banana and Chocolate Shake

Chocolate for breakfast? Absolutely! This delicious drink is dairy-free, full of protein and is a firm favourite of model Karlie Kloss, who says that she enjoys a breakfast shake on most mornings. Karlie uses chocolate flavoured protein powder in her own concoctions, but we recommend using a little real dark chocolate instead.

Ingredients:

  • 250ml almond milk
  • 40g dark chocolate
  • 20g oats
  • 1 scoop whey protein power
  • 1 banana, chopped

Simply combine the ingredients, blend until smooth and enjoy!

Chrissy Teigen’s Farmhouse Breakfast

Chrissy Teigen’s Farmhouse Breakfast

Chrissy Teigen may have made her name in modelling, but over the past few years she has become a celebrated cook and released a series of best-selling recipe books. With that in mind, it is no surprise that Chrissy starts each day with a flavourful, filling breakfast that you may find yourself looking forward to as you settle down to sleep the night before.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 sausage
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 large vine tomatos
  • Cholula hot sauce (optional)

Cook the eggs to your liking, whether you prefer them over-easy, sunny side up or scrambled. Cut the tomatoes in half and put them under the grill, along with the sausage. Serve with sliced avocado and drizzle with Cholula – the sauce is optional of course, but this is how Chrissy likes it.

Emma Watson’s Breakfast Tacos

Emma Watson’s Breakfast Tacos

Actress Emma Watson loves Mexican food so much that she proudly created this early morning twist on a classic, which she described to Marie Claire as her ‘special thing’. Of course, all good recipes deserve to be shared, so why not try it out for yourself?

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tortillas

For the salsa:

  • 4 large plum tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • Coriander, finely chopped
  • Lime juice, freshly squeezed

For the guacamole:

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 garlic clove, grated finely
  • Lime juice, freshly squeezed

First, prepare the salsa and guacamole. For the salsa, this is as easy as combining all your ingredients in a bowl and allowing to chill in the fridge. For the guacamole, simply pit the avocado and scoop the flesh of the avocado into a bowl, before adding the lime juice, garlic and salt. Mash these ingredients together until the guacamole reaches your desired consistency.

Coat the tortillas in cooking spray, drape directly over the wires of the oven rack (forming the shape of a crisp taco shell) and bake until crispy and brown. While you wait, scramble your eggs.

Once the tortillas are crisp, remove from the oven, leave to cool for ten minutes and then fill with your eggs, salsa and guacamole. Enjoy!

Gigi Hadid’s (Not Your Average) Beans On Toast

Emma Watson’s Breakfast Tacos

When asked about her eating habits by Harper’s Bazaar, Gigi made a surprising revelation about one of her favourite breakfasts – she often reaches for a portion of beans on toast. Gigi was introduced to the British classic by boyfriend Zayn Malik and has enjoyed the simple dish for her morning meal regularly since. Of course, everybody knows how to make beans on toast, but why not try this slightly more mature version of the childhood favourite?

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices sourdough
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 400g butter beans, drained and rinsed
  • 200g chopped tomatoes
  • Red wine vinegar
  • Flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • Parmesan

Fry the onion and garlic in butter until they are soft, then stir in the vinegar and cook until all of the vinegar has evaporated. Add the tomatoes and a splash of water and simmer for ten minutes. Once the tomatoes have thickened, add the beans and cook until piping hot, stirring in most of the parsley before removing the pan from the heat. After that, toast your sourdough and top with the tomatoes and beans, garnishing with the remaining parsley.

Selena Gomez’ Breakfast Burrito

Selena Gomez’ Breakfast Burrito

Another morning-friendly twist on a Mexican dinnertime favourite, Selena Gomez often enjoys these breakfast burritos while on tour. Her personal trainer Amy Rosoff Davies says that the burritos are a mix of chorizo, avocado, scrambled eggs, rice and beans, so they are absolutely packed full of energy to keep you going throughout the day. Amy also added that Selena sometimes chooses a Greek yoghurt and portion of granola instead, though we admit that doesn’t sound quite as interesting…

Ingredients:

  • 1 tortilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 200g refried beans
  • 150g brown rice
  • 80g chopped chorizo

Cook the rice and beans according to pack instructions. Remove the pit of the avocado and mash the contents with a fork. Lay the tortilla on a sheet of kitchen foil, before spreading with the rice, beans and avocado. Scramble the egg, adding in the chorizo once cooked, then layer on top of the other ingredients and roll the burrito tightly.
