From beauty to sport and defence, here are DDW’s top tech innovations for July 2023.
Nothing evolves faster, or more excitingly, than tech. Whilst just a few decades ago technology was only just starting to creep into our daily lives, the arrival of AI and other recent waves of technological advancements have altered the entire tech innovation panorama… and we can only expect it to ramp up. From revolutionary beauty tools to sweat measuring gadgets that ensure optimal hydration, here are some of the tech innovations we are currently obsessing over.
Tech Beauty Inventions
LYMA Laser
Everybody is obsessed with ageing—or, better said, the lack thereof. Whilst retinol, sunscreen and botox may be at an all-time high, there’s newer, lesser known but equally as effective products rampaging the market. One of such products is LYMA.
Discovered by a medical team in Germany, the LYMA laser is an at-home beauty product that causes no cellular damage, unlike the vast majority of cosmetic technology which currently often relies on damaging skin to stimulate collagen.
The functioning behind this nifty laser tool is simple; it boosts energy production. Our skin specifically needs something called ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), a “measure of metabolic energy essential to perform different functions in the skin, from maintaining hydration to producing skin-plumping collagen and elastin, and regenerating cells, all of which contribute to stopping sagging and ageing skin.” Through ATP, LYMA tackles things like wrinkles, ageing, pigmentation, scarring and acne, and claims to be 100x more powerful than laser treatments.
Exercise Tech Inventions
Nix Biosensors
If you’re serious about training and workouts, the Nix Biosensors ought to be on your running, cycling and exercising radar, because this nifty device analyses your sweat levels and delivers real-time hydration data straight to your smartphone or watch. Imagine receiving personalized notifications telling you when to drink, what to drink, and how much to drink to ensure you reach peak hydration levels. Whether you’re aiming to smash your 5km personal record or conquer that 10k cycling challenge, the biosensors stick to your arm and take note to ensure peak cognitive performance when exercising.
Tech Defence Inventions
Biofire Smart Gun
The idea behind Biofire’s Smart Guns, the first ever of its kind, is to ensure gun safety. Through technological authentication, smart guns always remained locked, up until your identity is verified through fingerprint identification and facial recognition systems. Whilst these sound like laborious tasks, Smart Guns has sped up the process to the point where it takes less time to pick up a Smart Gun than it does to keep a regular arm locked inside a safe. The technology doesn’t stop there. Equipped with electronic fire control, the guns are encrypted so that even if stolen, it cannot be mechanically modified for use.
